Projects for a hair care entreprenuer. It began with a new styling product, Hypnotik Hair. This product promised an anti-frizz result and it worked rather immediately—sorta like zapping your unruly hair with a hypnotizing ray gun to tame it. With that vision, we wanted something a little retro and funky, and given the product attributes we fell hard for a Barbarella vibe. This influence drove our heroine persona on the label as well as the raygun-esque bottle and cap. Visual design such as fonts and typography followed suit. Work done at Saturday, John Howard, designer. My role was CD, conceptual direction and product story, writing.
This client generously sposored a free-haircut even over two days at a Charlotte salon for anyone who was unemployed and needed to spruce up their look. It was a huge success with well over 100 clients and press in the NT Times. We supported with email signatures, social media graphics, a printed postcard for neighboring retailers to help promote, and temp tattoos for attendees. Was fun to be a part of this. Concepts, design, illustrations and copy by me.
